Well Women Franklin is a peer support group who meet weekly at a central Pukekohe venue. We offer support to women and families who have, or are suffering from:
- Ante and Post Natal Depression
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Or any other mental health disorder brought on by pregnancy or childbirth.
The program offered by Well Women is unique to the Franklin area and we support an average of 10 to 15 women per week. Free childcare is provided for the duration of the peer support group meeting.
An original pilot scheme was run by Counties Manukau District Health Board. When the program finished, a group of health professionals including child birth educators, social workers, midwifes and mothers who had experienced PND set up Well Women Franklin to support women and families in the area.
We are a registered charity who employees three part-time staff.
